Data Collection

CarMi collects the following data to provide car inspection functionality:

Camera & Microphone:

• Records inspection videos.
• Videos can be stored locally on your device or shared with other users via Firebase Cloud Storage (only when you explicitly choose to share).

Email Address:

• Used as your unique identifier in the system to enable video sharing between users.
• Your email is stored in Firebase Firestore.

User Name:

• Extracted from your email address and used for identification within the app.
• Stored in Firebase Firestore.

Push Notifications:

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens are collected to send you notifications when you receive videos from other users.
• FCM tokens are stored in Firebase Firestore.

Car Information:

• The app collects car numbers and vehicle information when you search for car details.
• This information is used to retrieve car data from Israeli government APIs (data.gov.il) and is stored locally in your search history.
• Car numbers are sent to Firebase Cloud Functions, which then query Israeli government databases to retrieve vehicle information.

Contact Information:

• When sharing videos, you may optionally provide contact information (name and phone number) for the recipient.
• This information is stored in Firebase Firestore and used only for video sharing purposes.

Internet:

• Used for:
  • Displaying advertisements via Google AdMob
  • Video sharing functionality (Firebase Cloud Storage and Firestore)
  • Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
  • Retrieving car information from Israeli government APIs
  • Payment processing (Google Play Billing)

Storage:

• Saves videos, app settings, and car search history locally on your device.

Payment Information:

• The app uses Google Play Billing for in-app purchases.
• Payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play.
• We do not collect or store payment information such as credit card numbers or billing addresses.

Data Usage

• Local Videos: Stored locally on your device, never transmitted unless you explicitly share them.
• Shared Videos: When you share a video with another user, it is uploaded to Firebase Cloud Storage and metadata (including annotations, car number, mileage) is stored in Firebase Firestore.
• Email Address: Used to identify you in the system and enable video sharing.
• User Name: Used for identification and display within the app.
• FCM Tokens: Used to send push notifications when you receive videos.
• Car Information: Car numbers are used to retrieve vehicle information from Israeli government databases. Search history is stored locally for your convenience and can be deleted at any time.
• Contact Information: Used only for video sharing purposes when you choose to share videos with other users.
• Advertisements: Google AdMob may collect standard ad data (IP address, device info, app interactions) for advertising and analytics purposes.
• Payment Information: Processed by Google Play. We only receive confirmation of successful purchases, not payment details.
• Settings: Saved locally in the app.

Data Sharing

We do not share your personal data except:

• Firebase Services: When you share videos, they are stored on Firebase Cloud Storage and metadata is stored in Firebase Firestore (Google's Firebase platform). Your email address and user name are stored in Firebase Firestore for user identification.
• Video Recipients: Videos you share are accessible to the recipients you specify by email address. Contact information (if provided) is shared with the recipient.
• Google AdMob: For advertisements and analytics (per Google's policy). AdMob may collect app interaction data, device identifiers, and IP addresses.
• Google Play: Payment information is processed by Google Play. We only receive purchase confirmations, not payment details.
• Israeli Government APIs: Car numbers are sent to Israeli government APIs (data.gov.il) through Firebase Cloud Functions to retrieve vehicle information. This includes queries to multiple government databases for vehicle registration, inspection, and ownership information.
• When required by law: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.

Your Data

• Local Videos: Remain on your device unless you choose to share them.
• Shared Videos: Stored on Firebase Cloud Storage and accessible to recipients you specify.
• Email Address: Stored in Firebase Firestore and visible to users who send you videos.
• User Name: Stored in Firebase Firestore and visible to users who send you videos.
• FCM Tokens: Stored in Firebase Firestore for push notification delivery.
• Car Information: Car numbers and search history are stored locally on your device. Car numbers are sent to Israeli government APIs through Firebase Cloud Functions to retrieve vehicle information. You can delete car search history from within the app at any time.
• Contact Information: Stored in Firebase Firestore when you share videos. Can be removed by deleting the shared video.
• Payment Information: Processed and stored by Google Play. We do not have access to your payment details.
• Data Deletion: You can delete the app to remove local data. Shared videos remain on Firebase until manually deleted. You can delete car search history from within the app. To request deletion of data stored on Firebase, please contact us.
• Permissions: You can disable camera, microphone, and storage permissions in device settings.

Data Security

All user data transmitted by the app is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption. Data stored on Firebase services is encrypted at rest by Google. Local data on your device is protected by Android's built-in security features.

Firebase Services

This app uses Firebase services (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Cloud Functions) provided by Google. Data shared through these services is subject to Firebase's Privacy Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy .

Google Play Services

This app uses Google Play Billing for in-app purchases. Payment processing is handled by Google Play and is subject to Google Play's terms of service and privacy policy.
